Trumpet tuning notes

The trumpet preset uses sounding concert Bb3, F4, Bb4. On a B-flat trumpet these correspond to written C4, G4, C5.

Trumpet preset targets at A4 = 440 Hz

Targets are listed in preset order. Frequencies above use A4 = 440 Hz; changing Reference A4 adjusts the live tuner targets.

How to tune your trumpet

Warm up first and play at a comfortable volume without forcing the pitch with your lips. Adjust the main tuning slide gradually: pulling it out lowers pitch and pushing it in raises pitch.

Does this trumpet tuner show written or concert pitch?

It shows sounding concert pitch. For a B-flat trumpet, a written C sounds B-flat. Choose Chromatic for other notes or a trumpet in a different key.

What do flat, sharp, and cents mean?

Flat means your pitch is below the target; sharp means it is above it. A cent is one hundredth of a semitone. Move toward 0 cents using small adjustments. For strings, tighten to raise pitch and loosen to lower it.

Can I change the reference pitch?

Reference A4 defaults to 440 Hz and accepts 400–480 Hz. Match your ensemble’s reference before tuning. The selected preset keeps its note names while its target frequencies adjust.
